Southeast Asia has for many years been one of the most dangerous places in the world to be on the road. For every 100,000 people, over 20 are killed in traffic-related accidents – compared to 9.3 in Europe – with many more suffer devastating injuries. The rise of ride-hailing platforms has shone a spotlight on cases of sexual harassment, reckless driving and other behavioral issues that occur between a passenger and driver while on a ride. We launched our #SaferEveryday commitment with our government partners, NGOs, our driver-partners and end-users across the region. Central to the campaign, we boldly unveiled our #SaferEveryday Tech Roadmap with commitment to double our investment into safety initiatives in order to achieve our ultimate target of ZERO preventable incidents on our platform. The Safer Everyday campaign generated ringing endorsements from government leaders, non-governmental organisations and expert stakeholders in each country.
